Counseling & Coaching Services

Dr. Amy Cooper offers sex counseling to individual and couples at her offices in Santa Cruz and Berkeley California. Telephone consultations can be arranged for those who live outside of the Monterey Bay area. Individual sessions provide a safe and empowering atmosphere to explore either specific sexual problems, or the more general goal of greater sexual fulfillment.

Couples sessions offer the opportunity for couples to grapple with sexual issues together. In doing so, couples can discover how intimacy, body awareness, honest communication, and great sex are all interconnected. The path of relationship can be deeply healing if we give it the attention it deserves.

Counseling sessions in Santa Cruz, Berkeley, or via skype can focus on any of the following:

Virtually everyone has the potential to lead a rich, fulfilling sexual life. Making love is an art, and like any art, certain skills can enhance the experience. Possible topics of exploration include:

  • Becoming a fantastic lover
  • Communicating honestly
  • Rekindling intimacy
  • Passionate, juicy lovemaking
  • Enhancing your experience of touch
  • Deeply relaxing into sex
  • Freeing your sexual creativity
  • Building trust
  • Developing confidence
  • Learning to be present

Dr. Cooper holds a PhD in Human Sexuality. She practices as a clinical sexologist, trained by the Institute for the Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. She is not a medical doctor or a licensed psychotherapist. She does not treat medically diagnosable mental disorders or sexual dysfunctions. Her sex counseling can be used as an adjunct to treatment by licensed medical practitioners. Or it can be used for sexual enrichment purposes. Many common sexual difficulties fall within the range of normal human sexual experience. Amy's comfort and skill in communicating about sex often provides great relief to couples or individuals in distress or seeking greater fulfillment. She is happy to provide referrals to medical doctors and licensed therapists whenever necessary.

Dr. Cooper provides counseling sessions. She is not a sex surrogate. Please do not call her if your intent is to initiate erotic contact with her. There are plenty of other places to find that.
